I personally think they should have it every year. because your hard work in four years depends on a single 90 minute period in the knock-out stage is kind of lame. For example, if Algeria scored at any moment of that match before stoppage time, Germany, a clear favorite would be done and so would it's recent legacy.

Can't be held every year. Qualifications take more than one year. Qualifying period can't be condensed because players have play for their league teams.
