Why doesn't FIFA use more technology?

Posted at: 2014-10-08
hey man, I watched the world cup and was cheering for my team Argentina. As you know, they lost in the final against Germany but the referee was really bad and in my opinion affected the outcome of that game. FIFA dosent use more technology because thats the dark side of soccer. Sometimes, it is convenient for a certain team to win against another one just for social purposes. Like the first game of the world cup 2014, Brazil vs Croatia, the referee counted a penalty for brazil when it clearly wasn't. That game had to be won by brazil or else, there would have been social problems by brazil's fans. Its just for convenience.

What specific calls changed the outcome this time around? There was nothing which replay of technology could have helped with. Even Netherlands exaggerated drive was still a foul. Replay could do nothing but check for contact which there was. Please, specifics to give your question some hope.

Well they never had to.

I agree. But I think it's tradition that kept it this way. I don't think referees want to lose their jobs either...referees actually have a high position in games and they get medals too. I also hope eventually we can abolish the use of referees in such important games, but it is true that if it's done so too suddenly, referees would not be too happy about losing their jobs and it might cause problems.

That is the reason why the World Cup is amazing to us.
