Soccer actually comes from the name Football Association. All they really did was shorten the word Association to Soccer and mashed it with the word "rugger" which came from Rugby Football and it became popular slang and ended up being just called soccer to differentiate from other forms of football, but in America they ended up just using it as the official way to say Football
Why do we call "soccer" "soccer?"
Why can't we call it football like the rest of the world considering that you only play with your feet and it's a ball....? And why is it named soccer anyway?
