Over the last 2 years - Ronaldo
Ronaldo just won the UEFA European Player of the Year and he won the Ballon D'or (best player in the world) award this year. So currently you would have to say Ronaldo.
However, I like Messi better :) The important thing is that they are both great and you can learn lots from them if you want to become a better player.
With raw stats, mess is is probably better, but really, its like comparing a Ferrari and a Lamborghini; they play completely differently. Messi uses close ball control and uses the bare minimum amount of skills to get the ball into the goal. Ronaldo, on the other hand, uses lots of skills in his games, and makes the play more attractive for the audience. Although it looks better, doing skills always has a greater risk of losing the ball. In terms of goals, the difference is pretty small, but like I said before, I think messi has more. Both players dive, but Ronaldo dives a LOT more than messi, and he also gets more red cards. Despite this, both players are among the best in the world.
