AYSO is not considered highly competitive soccer. Colleges do look at top club teams as much or even more than HS ball. In California, you want to be part of a good CYSA team. Go to top tournaments such as the Surf Cup. That is where you'll really get noticed.



HS does help and your coach should be able to help you navigate the college scene. He can send letters and you can have videos put together prior to your senior year to try and get scouts to see you.

With me being a coach in England it is very different. However ask your manager/coach what the best way of making a career out of football is. Do not expect to just be in football and make thousand a week and most importantly don't give up on something where you have a much better chance of becoming in life. There is a good term I like to say to players who don't make it...
