I would try soccer, because if you decide you dont want to play, you can join XC. It doesn't work the other way around.
So I'm becoming a freshman very soon and I'm having a difficult time deciding between soccer or xc. I joined a soccer team in 8th grade for the first time in my life and I played defense. It turns out I was pretty good and I even got asked by a small club coach to join his team. Although, I don't know if being decent in soccer will be enough to make the team in my later years in high school. Soccer I prefer much more than XC but the coach for XC personally asked me to join his team. XC is a walk on team so being cut in my later years is not an issue. The XC teams have won state plenty of times from what I hear. A problem I have with XC although is me ending up having a super skinny body figure. I plan on doing track and field in more of the short distance if this may affect any decision.
Soccer Pros: Enjoyment, Teamwork, Strength, Speed, This years team is suppose to be amazing (it's complicated how I know).
Soccer Cons: I may or may not make the team later on
XC Pros: A chance to go to state, Endurance, A good challenge
XC Cons: Abnormally skinny figure, Muscle mass demolished, No enjoyment towards running for miles and miles (but I do love challenging myself).
