It all depends on what age you are and ability you have. If you are doing it for cash do what ever you like but if you are doing it to learn the art of refereeing and you are just starting out then go young and work up. It is all about learning firstly to recognise a foul and learn how to read how the teams play and where you should be on the field (positioning) Then work on you skills of talking to the players and coaches. Your local Soccer Federation will have referee classes and training where you can meet fellow refs and gain from their expertise and also get yourself fitter. You may also be able to pick games up from fellow refs and also some line appointments. If you're young enough and good enough then the opportunities now offered to referees are far greater.
