I wonder when will Navas be given a chance.
He was a very good goalkeeper in his prime - a level below Buffon, and I never rated him as highly as others, but still very good. His fall from grace has been stark - quite surprising given that goalkeepers can generally go on until they are forty. Casillas is smaller though and his game has always been about agility and cat-like reflexes. He was never a 'rounded' goalkeeper like Schmeichel or Buffon so perhaps in retrospect it was always clear that he might decline faster.
It's easy to blame Mourinho and Carlo for this - Casillas after all has only been playing CL games for ages dating back to when Mourinho first replaced him (he never regained his place after his injury healed, and rightly so given Lopez's form), most GKs have much more regular match time so he's clearly at a disadvantage in that regard. However, the cracks were beginning to appear before Mourinho replaced him with Lopez, even before his injury.
I'm still not coinvinced that it's terminal for him, though. A move to a different club could do him the world of good. Keylor Navas is better now anyway so he really should be eased into the team.
I can't believe they'd let Diego Lopez go for Iker.
Did you see him last night? Standing there asking for a handball/offside while the ball passed right by his side? Ridiculous.
Goes to show how favoritism will destroy this team. They need to get there team together. Individualism and favoritism will keep them bad.
lol Kroos was awful in that game.
In the last 28 shots on Casillas, Real Madrid conceded 20 GOALS, while two of the shots hit the crossbar, Iker only managed to save 6.
I wonder when will Navas be given a chance.
