Is Pep Guardiola ruining Bayern Munich?

he problem with pep is that he doesn't make a system the Bayern players are all comfortable with. He only knows one system and isn't as tactically flexible like mourinho, ancelotti, ferguson, etc. Madrid beat Bayern 1-0 at home nd guardiola still used the same tactics against them the next game and paid the price. Not a bad coach just doesn't really mix with the Bayern players.

Jupp is getting overrated for one great season after god knows how many years/decades of doing fck all.

Jupp is the same guy who lost the CL final to Chelsea at his own backyard, the same one who lost 5-2 against Dortmund in a cup final and finished way behind them in the league table.

The only thing that was the driving force behind their treble winning season is their hunger for success after they came close to winning so many seasons where they came short.

After they won they treble, it's understandable they wouldn't show the same hunger as they did the previous season, and it's only natural. stop acting as if Jupp would keep dominating the world just because he did that for one great season.

Better managers than Jupp failed to dominate european football for 2 consecutive seasons, it's not that easy, there's a reason why nobody has ever retained the champions league in it's current format.

They had a better balance under Heynckes, yes. He took possession football and mixed it up with some more direct football. Pure possession football with false 9s is great, but you need guys like Xavi, Iniesta and Messi to play that, and Bayern don't have players who can specialise in the system to the extent those guys can. Busquets gets lots of abuse but he too was integral to Barca's play.

Messi is seriously the only footballer in the world who can make a false 9 work to a world-class level. The qualities that role requires are a precise mix of playmaking ability, finishing, vision, passing, tactical discipline. Messi is the only player who has all of those to a world-class standard. especially back in 2011 when it worked so well.

Another aspect is the inverted wingers - Messi would drop deep and serve Villa and Pedro all day long, when they darted into the vacated space in the box. Those two also had high work rate and energy as well as the ability to create. bayern are a bit different - Robben and Ribery have the creative quality and Robben has improved his pressing, but they're still not at Pedro and Villa levels of pressing (when they were in the Barca team at that time). Robben is a great goalscorer but Ribery is not, so when bayern are on the counter and looking to get their winger in on goal, an unusual amount will come down Robben's side, which makes them slightly more predictable. barca never had that problem - both pedro and Villa were goalscorers to a level Ribery never has been. This problem becomes less of a factor if Muller is playing wide and Ribery is not, but then you lose many of Ribery's qualities.

So I'd say that they were better under Heynkces - but that isn't because the way he played is better than tiki taka (hate that phrase) - it's simply because nobody can execute that pure possession, utter dominance in midfield quite as well as those Barca teams did - not even this Bayern.

I'm not going to say you're wrong because I don't know what would have happened had he stayed but I will say it's not all black and white.

Saying " if Jupp stayed on they'd have beaten Real Madrid last year" is ridiculous as you also don't know what would have happened.

Just because they won the treble one year doesn't mean they will win it again. Circumstances change. Injuries, hunger, fatigue all come into play.

Guardiola stayed with Barca after the treble in 2008/09 did they win the treble again? No they didn't.

It's not that straight forward.

In short, the same players and manager doesn't always equal same performances. There are other factors.

Yes, for me it's because under Jupp Bayern had their own style of playing football and they will find many ways to get the ball in the back of the net but under pep it seem to be pass...pass...pass...then pass again. In their CL match against Utd I thought they would lose the game because they will make a break to the wing and then pass the ball back in instead of crossing. the first time they choose to cross they got their first goal. Ribery does not seem to like this style cause he is not taken on defenders, Gotze creativity does not show much and Lahm hands down the best defender in football imo being played as a cm was just crazy.

I like Jupp Bayern they were miles ahead of Peps Bayern.

No he's doing just fine. They won two German titles last year including the league and getting to the Champions League semi-final is not easy. I'm sorry but I strongly doubt Gotze will ever be as good as Messi. I wasn't that impressed by his performance at the world cup, and I actually heard rumours that he may leave in the summer but obviously that didn't happen. Until Bayern stop winning and challenging in the major competitions I don't think anyone can complain tbh.

I feel the same about Pep and Bayern. Last season they had a brilliant league run beating records constantly but there isn't something right. They may of had an off night against real? No! They were beat by city also, a good team but considering the season they had with Jupp it was poor. I think that Pep is trying to hard to find a new style, like a fast counter attacking tika taka. All the teams have figured out how to stop it and do stop it. Dont know why they got rid of Jupp for Pep, as he did win everything.

Bayern under Jupp Heynckes were one of the best performing clubs of a ll time and they swept all before them, if Jupp stayed on they'd have beaten Real Madrid last year.

They still have the same players and team, if you look at the players on an individual basis i think they have the best team in the world, Schweinsteiger, Ribery, Muller, Lahm, Robben, Gotze (who i think will g on to be as good as Messi) Neuer and many others

But despite this they aren't really performing to their potential, it can't be because of the players because they have the best team and have proven they can win the Champions League and destroy other great teams before.

The only thing that has changed is the manager, so could this by why Bayern isn't performing as well?
