Focus is the key. Don't rush your effort unless you really have to. If it is from a dead ball situation (free kick, penalty etc.) I personally take 5 steps back and 3 to the left. As you run up to the ball do not think about your shot just focus on kicking through the ball with your laces. If you hit the bottom of the ball, just below the valve then you should get maximum power and lift on your strike. Good luck!
You should hit it with your front legs and just hit it very hard you will get it.
