Freshmen, Varsity Soccer Help?

Posted at: 2014-10-08
if you are miserable, then i would quit. if you're not enjoying it, then its wasting your time. but, you never know what could happen. in grade 9 i made the final cut for my varsity soccer team. i had about 4 other girls in my grade make it as well. the first year was kind of intimidating because the grade 12s will treat you like youre a freshman but you have to take it. why dont you give it a couple more months and see how you feel. try to look up soccer tips how to get better and show your coach and team that you have potential and that youre more than a bench warmer. good luck:)

You have two choices:

1) Quit because you're not enjoying yourself.

2) Train to become better and overcome your problems.

If you really don't enjoy soccer anymore than I would suggest you stop playing. Life is too short to do things you don't enjoy. Find something you love and enjoy spending your time with.

Complaining about your problems will not make you better. Start taking action to improve your skills, fitness, confidence, and game intelligence. I can help you with that if you're serious.

most importantly are you having fun? doesnt seem like it. why are you trying to get on the team? for yourself? family? friends?

are you trying to play past highschool? for scholarships ect?

most importantly is yourself. ask the coach outside of practice time or even before on what he thinks you could do to better hone your skills. find the best players if your cool with them and ask for advice or help. for your knees tendonitis is tricky. some say it goes away after your body gets use to it. but it all depends on your own personal body. try knee braces or those compression ace sleeves if they dont interfere with your mobility.

i was defense my freshman year, idk about you but if you do the things i said and most importantly find the fun and love of your sport youll see past the frustrations. if your coach is a good coach he will atleast be honost with you about what you can do.

practice makes permanent.

I am a freshmen in high school. I've played soccer all my life so i tried out for the team, i made it as a sub but that was expected because we only have one soccer team, varsity. I've been to practices and i'm probably one of the worst there, my coach always yells at me and its so frustrating and i feel like all i'm doing is embarrassing myself. I have tendonitis in my knees, its taking a toll on my playing since its so painful but that doesn't seem to matter to the coach, she treats me just the same and is reluctant to let me take breaks when i'm hurting. I don't have many friends on the team either. It makes me upset a lot. I want to quit, but everytime i say"i'm just going to quit" i somehow persuade myself not to. For some reason i can't bring myself to do it. I've never quit at anything, but how can i keep doing something thats making me absolutely miserable? i just need some advice, please help!
