I'm sure that Roberto Martinez after a single game in the new season has hopes that his side can win the League. The loss of Ross Barkley is a blow but the team has a deeper squad then previous seasons. I'd expect Everton are sixth favorites at the moment - but the teams expected to finish above them might be fixture-fatigued later in the season by Champion's League games and FA Cup ties.

Everton have a reasonably strong squad but my main reservation lies in defence. We are not as resolute as we were under Moyes but play good football. Essentially Everton need to be very strong defensively and then use skilful football to penetrate opponent's defences and Lukaku will need to be on good form if we are get into the top four this season. Our defence looked suspect against Leicester and I worried how we might fare against the top sides. We need a win against the Gunners to gain momentum.
