That said, Howard was beat by Colombian goalie Ospina, who is up 3.00 goals for the tournament overall (18 saves, 2 allowed). Howard had a very average performance in his previous three games and came into the fourth with a 0.00 average, giving him a 2.50 with 28 saves and 6 allowed for the tournament as a whole. We'll see what happens with Ospina for the rest of the tournament. If he gets sloppy later on, Howard might still end up in the lead.
For comparison, the worst goalie this tournament has been Ryan from Australia, who let in 9 goals and only made 11 saves. That's -4.00 saves from average. Casillas from Spain was second worst, with 7 saves, 7 allowed, -3.50 saves from average. The worst single performance in any game was South Korean goalie Jung in the game against Algeria. He made one save, let in 4 goals, giving him -2.75 goals saved compared to the average.
Everyone's been talking about Ochoa, but he made only six saves (none allowed) in his game against Brazil. That gives him just a +1.50 above average since there were so few shots.
I really felt like most all of his saves were just average kick saves that most goalies should and would make. Does anyone else think the same thing?
he should be made the captain of the team, for the next world cup instead of Dempsey
I think golden glove only in the final match
He has been very solid and reliable but I do not think he will get it. I think it will be a keeper of the team that makes it to the semi's at least.
Maybe
Tim Howard is a great goalie he was the backbone of Team USA. But I think the Colombian or Costa Rican goalie will get the Golden Glove Trophy.
He edged Ochoa just a bit today (IMO).
It really depends on Costa Rica's game.
That goalie has been really good AND has his work cut out for him soon.
He deserves it
