No. The foul by itself did not warrant a red. This was not a case of a direct goalscoring opportunity because the defender had recovered and was challenging for the ball. Had the defender not been there then I would have expected the red. Good call by the referee.

I don't know about all the technical rules but I wouldn't have given him a red card. He was deep inside the box and went to get the ball away from the net it was just a fluke he missed it.
