Do soccer players get anxiety?

Everyone does at one time or another. Some players are just better at putting it behind their mind than others. If you're well-prepared and know your game and how your team play and who you're up against...your chances of being nervous will decrease dramatically - especially if you walk into the field with confidence knowing you'll more than likely win.

Being able to play under pressure will pretty much determine who's the better player and who's not. If you get too anxious or nervous before and during a game you will get tunnel visioned and make a lot of mistakes that neither you nor your teammates will approve.

What I do is when I get on the pitch I scan around to see where each person is, both my teammates and the others. Who's playing the same position as I am from the other team. I'll study him and the other players a bit to kind of get a general idea who's going to be the strong players and who's the weak ones.

You can always tell who's weak by looking at their first touch right off the back. If they lack a good first touch, it usually means they're either extremely nervous or can't play worth of crap or both!

Strong players, you can always tell....they're quick, their touches and passes are smooth and accurate, they just play the sport with very little to no worries.
