For various reasons. I don't think picking club or country is wrong. Its a matter of preference and I can understand others point of view. My friend prefers club because the club represents his community/location. I also like to make one Example: If Wigan wins a trophy, they would celebrate the trophy across Wigan, if England wins the world cup, they aren't going to be in Wigan are they? Also Wigan is a small town and Wigan FC gives recognition to the town not England's football team.

Also it depends on your example. England facing a team which is a friendly is not as important as a club facing a competitive match in the EPL.

It is difficult to focus on an international match when we are in a middle of a domestic season, this could also disrupt the clubs performance due to that international break which leads to players flying all over the world. Of course, players aren't going to complain because 1) They are professionals 2) They get paid a lot of money and 3) Its not often you can represent your country.

Why is it that Club is always given more importance / attention / preference over the country. example : two matches on same day . 1) England vs Any country .2) Club vs club (EPL). I have asked many ppl, which match wud u follow, n 100% ppl said their own club. WHY ? why is it that no one cares of England football team.
