In other words the rule is designed to prohibit a forward from camping in front of the goal.
That would probably change the average amount of goals in the game.
You can't chase after a ball until it is passed... and you can't start your sprint in front of the defenders.

Have fun because getting all offside possibilities is a pain in the a$$ ;)
The offsides rule applies when your player is behind their last defender, regardless of the keeper's position. If the ball is played while your player is in front of their last defender, the ball is onsides, but if your player is behind their last defender when he receives the ball, offsides is called, and the opposing team gets a free kick.
Linesman calls an offside if one or more players of the attacking team are behind the defense of the other team at the moment when the ball was passed to them.
But if there is a player that is in offside but does not participate in the attack in any way, ref will let the game continue and will not call offside.
When players from a particular team attacking on the opponent's D box, if a particular player from the attacking team reached too close to the goalie, then the linesman raises the off-side flag, means if that player scores a goal, it will not be counted.
offside flag will raised when an player is caught behind the defenders when the ball is passed. . .
