No school will let you play without insurance. The schools used to pay for it, but it might be different now. You need to some insurance and ask the school about it. They will send you to the doctor anyway to see if you are fit enough to play.

I fear you are asking people on the wrong side of the Atlantic Ocean about this. The way health insurance works in the UK is different from the US.
